who is torahgirl?

I’m a tiny genealogy-obsessed Italophile; a former shopaholic yogini; a high-heel-wearing, fun-loving, health-conscious, enthusiastic ‘hip tranquil chick’ with a passion for philanthropy who loves chocolate and VW Beetles. I’m happily unconventional about education {homeschooled}, college {unnecessary}, religion {Hebrew Roots}, feminism {complementarianist}, and fashion {vive la modestement!}.

My parents are New Yorkers but I was born in Virginia and raised in North Carolina, making me a Northern American Hybrid. I grew up as part of the prestigious Squicciarini family. You’ve probably heard of them – they’re a big name in Charlotte due to my gregarious father. I loved being known around town even though it meant living in the spotlight and always thinking about the consequences first.

In March 2011 I started a new life with Gregory Aaron Bartos, and my goal is to be the helpmeet he deserves. I’m a happy newlywed overwhelmingly grateful for all the ways I’ve been blessed! My current “career” is a full-time position as chatelaine of our darling pied-à-terre in Charlotte, NC while preparing to become a mother in March 2012. Life is blissful.

Note: I’ve been asked why I use the name torahgirl, as some think it sounds like a prideful attempt to emphasize my piety. Let me clarify: torahgirl is my goal, not my claim to righteousness. I believe that G-d’s instructions for life are contained in Torah, and I want my life to be focused on demonstrating love for Him through my obedience.

      Thank you Emily!! Shabbat shalom to you as well! And congratulations on YOUR new arrival – how exciting! Ishiyah is a beautiful baby. =) I just read the story of her birth – it’s so encouraging to hear about a calm, successful {B”H} “overdue” home birth! Raspberry will be my first, so I am learning as much as I can from others. {grin}

      =)
